DEI Internal Communications Consultant

Our client, The Pokémon Company International (TPCi), a subsidiary of The Pokémon Company in Japan, manages the property outside of Asia and is responsible for brand management, licensing, marketing, The Pokémon Trading Card Game, the animated TV series, home entertainment, and the official Pokémon website. Pokémon was launched in Japan in 1996 and today is one of the most popular children’s entertainment properties in the world.
We are looking for an experienced DEI Internal Communications Consultant through June 2025. Working with the Chief Diversity & Social Responsibility Officer, you will focus on writing and multiple projects that fit into the larger DEI strategic plan. With an internal communications view, you will need to think creatively, broadly, and tactically. You will be working in an employee first culture with employees who are passionate about Pokémon and the global community of fans.
What you’ll do:
- Create templates, communication standards, editorial calendar, tag line, DEI newsletter, events, for the DEI functions.
- Establish and manage an ongoing calendar (a playbook) including national heritage months, ERG initiatives, holidays, etc.
- Serves as communications program lead to colleagues, department Leadership, and Executives while building and maintaining buy-in and trust with Employees across the organization.
- Serves in a communication consultant role on Companywide DEI initiatives, determining appropriate tone, message, and channel to deliver clear and effective messages that align with our company mission, aspirations, guiding principles, and commitment statements.
- Must demonstrate autonomy in the development of message and channel strategy, gathering inputs from multiple sources, obtaining and coordinating the proper approvals, and partnering with other departments or outside partners as needed to build and execute DEI communication strategy.
- Serves as facilitator, building connections between DEI, Internal Communications and other Departments to ensure consistent communication.
- Aligns organizational resources, managing priorities across multiple areas to create timely communication strategies that deliver measurable business results.
- Demonstrates superior knowledge of communication strategies, tactics, and tools and an understanding of their convergence.
- Stays current with advancements and trends in communication, specifically in the areas of mobile messaging, social and collaborative sites, and digital presence.
What you’ll bring:
- Seasoned DEI Communications professional with a wide variety experiences in-house and consulting/agency roles.
- Strategic Communications/Thought Leader with the ability to offer suggestions and solutions.
- Excellent project management skills, highly organized, can build processes, and effective communicator.
- Demonstrated experience bringing marketing and communication strategies to life through visual storytelling and creation of presentations.
- Knowledgeable in how to bring voice to DEIB through writing, tone, and materials.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and demonstrated ability to develop creative and innovative approaches.
- Strong executive presence and proven ability to influence key business stakeholders.
- Some graphics/presentation and/or video production skills are a plus.
- Previous experience thriving in a fast-paced, transformative environment with proven capability to influence change and manage effectively. Must be a self-starter.
- Very action oriented with the ability to get things done in a measured response.
- Thoughtful communicator, an active listener, and able to interact with a variety of audiences inside and outside an organization.
- Embraces diversity as a personally held belief. Actively supports DEIB and is willing to learn about one’s own prejudices and biases.
- An understanding that to be effective, this role must embody the TPCi culture, mission, and values.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
