We are looking for a passionate professional to join our team as Communications Manager for our largest program, Strive Women:
This is a remote position on a dynamic, global team with brilliant, down-to-earth colleagues. Teams are located in South America, North America, Europe, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Candidates should expect to work at least a half day during the hours of 13:00 to 17:00 GMT and take meetings outside of normal working hours when necessary. We will consider part-time (60%-80%) to full-time roles and employment contracts will be based in the country of residence; the candidate must already have the right to work in their country of residence (no sponsorship). Responsibilities
Strategic Communications (50%)
- Refreshing the program communications strategy annually
- Reviewing, updating and distributing program communications materials and data every six months
- Monitoring and analyzing communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies
- Liaising with CARE research and learning colleagues on all program data, ensuring data the team and donor uses is updated quarterly
- Drafting, editing and reviewing of copy for all program webpages and updating website every six months
- Working with country communications colleagues on strategy development and key communications activities (e.g. virtual events, global campaigns)
- Leading communications activities at global team events
- Setting up mechanisms for tracking social media presence and data and media coverage
- Ensuring all communications content (photography, written docs, film content, social media data) is stored effectively on shared drive
External Stakeholder Engagement & Public Relations (25%)
- Creating content that represents the best of the Strive Women's work and impact to support media and advocacy engagement
- Working with CARE internal teams to develop targeted media lists and to identify key events for year ahead
- Updating stakeholder database to track engagement and allocate relationship 'owner' lists
- Writing press releases / OpEds / blogs / essays on specific themes / innovations for the program
- Pitching press releases / OpEds / blogs / press releases to target media
- Leading writing and production of a newsletter twice a year
- Running program social media accounts, regularly posting high quality content and coordinating internally with CARE marketing and digital teams
- Leading logistics for events (e.g. Learning Event, Strive Women Alliance)
- Leading all communications meetings with donor and encouraging them to promote the program where possible
Knowledge Management (15%)
- Synthesizing evaluation and research findings into technical guidance materials, learning briefs, external communications, and materials for advocacy, fundraising, etc.
- Identifying and managing relationships with communications forums and technical spaces to broadly share CARE's learning and evidence to technical audiences outside of CARE
- Using CARE's evidence as the basis for publishing content that bridges across projects and sectors to highlight successful approaches and tools, and cutting-edge areas for research.
- Supporting Strive Women Director on development of content to present at key events
Streamline Communications across Women’s Entrepreneurship (10%)
- Developing, reviewing, and standardizing communication materials, assets, design across multiple programs in the Women's Entrepreneurship unit
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
- Minimum of five to ten years of relevant experience in communications
- Languages: English and at least one other language; Spanish strongly preferred
- Excellent professional writing and verbal communication skills for technical and general audiences
- Proven experience in media relations, digital marketing, and content creation
- Proficiency in social media management, content management systems, and email marketing platforms
- Experience turning technical documents and data into external communications for advocacy, fundraising and external representation
- Ability to work independently and across multiple projects with fast approaching deadlines
- Demonstrated experience working with donors to manage communications requirements
