We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Teaching and Learning Coordinator to join our team and work closely with schools to build sustainable systems that support students, families, and educators, ultimately enhancing educational outcomes and fostering a culture of excellence.
As a Teaching and Learning Coordinator, you will work under the guidance of the Director of Teaching and Learning, partnering with schools to enhance teacher skills, empower students and parents, and engage community organizations. This role is integral to creating impactful collaborations that enable students to graduate ready for college and career success.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Teaching & Learning Team to develop and implement instructional priorities at the school site(s).
- Foster a resilient, hopeful, and collaborative environment by supporting school staff in creating meaningful rituals and building strong relationships.
- Assist in developing goals and objectives that align with the school's vision, mission, and values.
- Work alongside the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) to coach teachers in aligning the school’s vision, mission, and instructional priorities with strategic plans.
- Promote a culture of excellence, teamwork, and collaboration among staff, teachers, students, and families.
- Partner with Community School Coordinators to integrate community resources into the classroom.
- Utilize effective communication through action plans, sustainability plans, or a monthly electronic newsletter.
- Lead data analysis of student achievement and help set goals and action plans.
- Develop and facilitate professional learning to support data-informed decision-making and establish a data-driven culture.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement continuous cycles of professional growth responsive to student needs.
- Create opportunities to incorporate student voice in shaping school policies and practices.
- Plan and lead weekly planning sessions with lead teachers, department chairs, and instructional teams.
- Conduct demonstration lessons, facilitate peer observations, and provide feedback to ensure effective implementation of Common Core Standards.
- Co-plan and facilitate professional development sessions for all school staff, supporting consistent implementation throughout the year.
- Provide consultation, classroom coaching, and leadership coaching tailored to school needs.
Qualifications
- Valid California teaching credential.
- Minimum of 5 years of full-time teaching experience at the secondary level.
- Preferred: Single subject Math credential; Cognitive Coaching and/or Adaptive Schools training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in a related field (e.g., Education, Literacy, or Math).
- Experience with Trauma-Informed Instruction and Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
Skills
- Proven experience in project planning to enhance academic success through parent engagement, school collaboration, and social-emotional health.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; strong written and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience developing and leading professional development for educators (e.g., Cognitive Coaching, Design Thinking, Adaptive Schools strategies).
- Strong group facilitation, team management, and consensus-building skills.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness, particularly in issues of race and equity in public education.
- Proficiency with remote support tools and methods, including distance learning technologies and virtual meeting platforms.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities, anticipate challenges, and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
- Experience with change management and fostering positive organizational change.
