Position Overview:
We are seeking an organized and proactive Marketing/ Communications Director to join our team as a volunteer. In this role, you will be responsible for managing communications with our members and sponsors, developing engagement programs, and overseeing the Social Media Manager and Content Creator. By contributing to our young organization, you will have the opportunity to take on significant responsibilities and grow your skills in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Monthly Member Newsletter: Create and distribute a monthly newsletter in collaboration with the Content Creator to keep our members informed about updates, events, and opportunities within the organization.
- Quarterly Sponsor Newsletter: Develop and send out a quarterly newsletter in collaboration with the Content Creator to our sponsors to strengthen relationships and provide updates.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Social Media Manager and Content Creator to align messaging and ensure consistent communication across platforms. Oversee their work to ensure that content aligns with organizational goals and branding.
- Partner Check-Ins: Reach out to partners and sponsors for regular check-ins to maintain strong relationships and gather feedback.
- Surveys: Create and distribute surveys to members and sponsors after events and throughout the year to gather insights and feedback.
- Community Engagement Program: Collaborate with the Community Engagement Team to develop programs based on survey responses and community needs to foster and improve community engagement.
- Media Requests: Facilitate media appearances or guest speakers to promote our organization and its mission.
- Contact Management: Manage contacts in Zoho and Mailchimp to ensure up-to-date and organized communication lists.
- Event Communications: Collaborate closely with the events team to coordinate promotional efforts, ensuring clear and timely communication about upcoming events across all platforms.
- Sponsor and Partner Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors and partners, ensuring ongoing collaboration and mutual support for organizational goals.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in Mailchimp for email communication.
- Experience with Canva for graphic design.
- Familiarity with Zoho for contact management.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Proficient in Outlook and Office 365.
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to create engaging copy for newsletters and communications.
- Working knowledge of using Slack to build community
- Comfortable responding to inquiries via Wordpress

Commitment:
- 5-10 hours per week with flexible scheduling.
- Attendance a minimum of one Tampa Bay Techies event per month.
- Participation in virtual Leadership Team meetings, typically held once a month from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.
- A 30-day training/probationary period to ensure mutual compatibility and a strong fit for both the volunteer and the organization.
