God’s Love We Deliver, a nonsectarian organization, is the New York metropolitan area’s leading provider of life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for people living with severe illnesses. Begun as an HIV/AIDS service organization, today God’s Love provides for people living with more than 200 individual diagnoses. God’s Love cooks and home delivers the specific, nutritious meals a client’s severe illness and treatment so urgently require. Meals are individually tailored for each client by one of our Registered Dietitians, and all clients have access to unlimited nutrition counseling. God’s Love supports families by providing meals for the children and senior caregivers of its clients. All of the agency’s services are provided free of charge.
About the Role
The Philanthropy Associate, Institutional Giving will support corporate and foundation fundraising for God’s Love We Deliver, with a focus on grant writing, grant management, and relationship-building with funders from a diverse and growing institutional portfolio. Reporting to the Manager of Philanthropy, Institutional Giving, the Philanthropy Associate, Institutional Giving will support prospecting, donor recognition, and the preparation and submission of letters of inquiry, grant proposals, budgets, final reports, and other correspondence. With a focus on helping to expand and strengthen God’s Love’s institutional giving portfolio, the Philanthropy Associate, Institutional Giving will work with the Philanthropy team to execute fundraising plans for both general operations and strategic programming, managing more than 200 corporate and foundation relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists the Manager of Philanthropy, Institutional Giving and Director of Philanthropy, Institutional Giving in researching, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding more than 200 corporate and foundation donors to achieve fundraising goals for approximately $3-5 million or more in grant funding.
- Drafts and develops compelling grant proposals, letters of intent, and other strategic documents.
- Works directly with corporations and foundations to maintain positive relationships and build strong community support for programs at God’s Love.
- Collaborates with Communications Department to identify and hone compelling impact stories and manage donor recognition via social media, our website, and other platforms.
- Prepares acknowledgement letters, final reports, impact reports and budget documents.
- Ensures prompt acknowledgement of all gifts related to corporate and foundation giving.
- In collaboration with Program staff, the Finance team and the Philanthropy team, produces budget documents, program activity reports, newsletter articles and other materials.
- Represents God’s Love to internal and external partners to grow and maintain key relationships as needed.
- Schedules and coordinates agency site visits with corporate and foundation representatives.
- Participates in and assists with agency events and cultivation activities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
About You
You are highly self-motivated with a strong desire to leverage your professional background to provide support to clients living with a serious illness. You have impeccable writing skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail, and you are energized by mobilizing your talent for storytelling. You are looking for a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
In addition, you have:
- A Bachelor's Degree; Master’s Degree preferred
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with writing grants
- Knowledge of the proposal submission and fundraising process
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce a variety of complex, compelling written pieces for diverse and wide-ranging audiences
- Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Sharp analytical skills and the ability to offer creative solutions
- Ability to multitask, and demonstrate solid organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office
