Job Description
General Functions
Performs professional level work with Orange County Divisions and the Mayors office to communicate with external users and the community at large. This position is responsible for devising social media and digital specific communications materials and campaigns, and develops web based materials. The role is an integral part of the Countys communications efforts to promote programs and events to Orange County citizens.
Work is performed under the general direction of the assigned supervisor. Performance is evaluated on accuracy, efficiency and achievement of desired results.
Representative Duties/Assignments
- Provides customer service to Orange County Divisions by editing and revising web-based content for Orange Countys public website.
- Acts as the liaison with Information Systems and Services and the Communications Division on Orange Countys public facing website.
- Researches and suggests best practices for the Countys future Intranet portal for employees.
- Provides communications assistance, such as research, writing, fact checking, coordination of production of event graphics, photography, etc.
- Implements a unified social media strategy to elevate the visibility of the Orange Countys social media accounts, creating brand awareness while increasing an online audience.
- Develops daily engaging, content-rich branded initiatives across the latest social networks.
- Provides appropriate measurements regarding relevant social media platforms.
- Maintains and coordinates best practices on the all Orange Countys social media platforms.
- Works with County staff on events relating to marketing and promoting Orange County. Works in a team environment and cross-functionally with various government Departments.
- Assists in the creation of the monthly newsletter, meeting all editorial processes and deadlines.
- Assists, edits and makes suggestions on revising the employee communications and newsletter.
- Participates in emergency activities and responses and collaborates with ESF-14 team during EOC activations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- May need to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or a closely related field and four years of professional experience in content management solutions, social media, public relations, journalism, writing or other closely related field; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and specialized digital/social media software.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Pay Grade: 017 - From $27.37 to $35.58
