POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Programs and Engagement plays a vital role in NY Funders Alliance’s team by leading member engagement and learning to cultivate a robust philanthropy network by surfacing over-arching programmatic themes and delivery of related content and events for members. The Director reports to the Executive Director as well as works with members, board of directors, and committees. As a representative of the organization, the Director of Programs and Engagement will nurture relationships with stakeholders by serving as a first point of contact for members and fostering strong relationships with key state and national partners. This is a hands-on position that requires both management and leadership skills as well as day to day operational execution.

NY Funders Alliance is a membership organization for philanthropic entities who are advancing vibrant, healthy communities across New York State. Our members include private, family, independent, and community foundations, corporations, and public charities. As a membership association, our priority is to support the philanthropic aspirations of our members. Serving as a community hub NY Funders Alliance delivers high-quality, cost-effective training and education; convenes and connects members to each other along with key federal, state, and local partners to create a knowledgeable and impactful philanthropic sector; and promotes and advocates for the interests of New York philanthropy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Management
• Lead planning, development, implementation, and facilitation of NY Funders Alliance annual slate of programming and events using varied learning strategies and technologies including curriculum-based, peer to peer, networking, online resources, virtual and in-person events, etc.
• Serve as design and implementation lead for annual signature events (ex. NYS Funders Conference) including staffing conference committees, securing, and preparing presenters, identifying and securing venues, technology, budget development and management, sponsorships, vendor contracts, and management of on-site and day-of logistics.
• Responsible for development of overall programming strategy that includes content themes that are responsive to the interests and priorities of the membership and larger philanthropic sector.
• Support funder networks or affinity groups located across the State and collaborate with partners on behalf of the organization.
• Steward the organization’s member relations and strategy by serving as the primary point of contact for member questions, research requests, and providing specialized responses and reports as needed.
• Lead annual membership renewal and prospecting initiatives including development of outreach strategy, mailings, and communications.
• Serve as a representative of NY Funders Alliance and foster relationships with key leaders and partners across the State, as well as with national philanthropy-serving organizations.
• Responsible for oversight, maintenance, and organizational integration of constituent relationship management tools including but not limited to: database, directories and mailing lists.
Marketing and Public Relations
• Lead the development and maintenance of the organization’s marketing and communications strategy that includes the development of the monthly E-newsletter, and event communications.
• Responsible for overseeing and supervising website management, curating the organization's social media presence, and maintaining event calendars.
• Develop collateral materials to support the work of NY Funders Alliance, including materials specific to individual programs.
• Collaborate with Executive Director in development and production of NY Funders Alliance publications and mailings to stakeholders.
Operations
• Support Executive Director, committees, and board of directors as needed and contribute to the development of overall organizational strategy.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director as necessary to formulate comprehensive annual governance strategies, cultivate impactful meeting frameworks, and generate routine progress briefs.
• Contribute to the ongoing operational tasks and duties of the organization as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will be familiar with the nonprofit sector and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The right candidate will be a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to manage several projects at once.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Minimum of five to ten years of relevant work experience in the nonprofit/philanthropy sector is preferred. Stakeholder services, program development and meeting facilitation experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree. Professional certification and years of experience at a ratio of 2:1 may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• Demonstrated experience and skills designing and coordinating trainings, events, specifically logistics and various forms of communications.
• Strong experience creating, producing, and facilitating in-person and virtual content for professionals.
• Outstanding relationship building and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook as well as ability and willingness to learn new software is required.
• Technical proficiency with remote meeting software such as Zoom and cloud software such as Office 365 and Google Suite to perform word processing, spreadsheet, and other specialized functions as well as experience in social media technology, as an engagement strategy for organizations, including website maintenance, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube.
• Working knowledge of constituent relations management systems (Salesforce preferred).
• Able to anticipate what needs to be done; demonstrates a growth mindset with a strong sense of purpose and takes the initiative to follow through and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality.
• Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills: tactful and mature, allowing for effective interface with members, staff, board members and other stakeholders. Professional attitude and appearance.
• Highly motivated and flexible, with the ability to work independently and follow tasks through to completion as well as participate as an effective member of a small office team.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Regular car travel will be necessary throughout the NY Funders Alliance’s service areas. Valid driver’s license and reliable auto with necessary insurance required. Periodic day and/or overnight travel statewide and nationally will be required.

COMPENSATION OVERVIEW
This is a full-time, exempt, position with a competitive non-profit salary range starting from $65,000 to $75,000 annually and equal to experience. NY Funders Alliance offers an excellent benefits package, medical, vision, and dental for employees, a generous retirement contribution and paid time off including paid holidays, sick time, and generous vacation.
