Sarepta’s Corporate Affairs department aims to inspire, inform, and engage its stakeholders around its work to develop transformative treatments for those with rare, debilitating diseases.
The Communications Specialist will support the execution of the daily operations for the Corporate Affairs function in order to advance the work of Sarepta while helping shape the development of content and activities that that advance the business, build the company’s reputation, and propel the company’s mission to serve patients.
Candidates should have a desire to work in the biotechnology industry, a passion for making a difference in the lives of patients living with rare disease, and an ability to work within a dynamic, fast-paced team with accuracy and integrity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as a key contributor on various project teams to support both internal and external communication.
- Conduct research and benchmarking on topics, assemble into clear narrative, and use to inform communication decision making and briefing leaders
- Oversee key channels used to effectively deliver communication, including:
- Serve as primary editor and disseminator of daily news
- Oversee analytics to help improve content and audience reach using Google Analytics for both internal and external channels, along with Poppulo
- Develop results reports to reflect impact of work across the function
- Own department license for Veeva and submit content as appropriate for promotional review of materials, including content on company website
- Support management of department calendar to inform editorial planning
- Support dissemination of content using key tools, including Factiva, Poppulo, Business Wire, Sarepta.com, and company intranet, as appropriate, along with knowledge of workings of Culture Amp and Digital Asset management system
- Work across function to develop timelines and activities list (eg, tick-tocks) to support
- Work closely with project lead to bring in Digital Asset Management system for Corporate Affairs
- Provide content for key communication channels, including weekly newsletter, internal digital displays, and company intranet
- Serve as primary editor of Corporate Affairs page and DEI content on the company’s intranet
- Serve as primary liaison for content managers and content administrators for company intranet; manage list of approved content contributors; work with IT to authorize access to sites; maintain training documents for development of sites and posting of content; conduct periodic reviews to ensure content is up to date
- Contribute to department wide projects and provide support for events and develop original content as needed
- Support vendor management through review of contracts, purchase orders and invoices
- Make recommendations for process improvement
Desired Education And Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Area of study such as journalism, English, communications, marketing or closely related discipline is helpful but not a requirement.
- Genuine interest in building a communications career within the life sciences, healthcare or biotechnology industries
- Possess effective communication and presentation skills, including writing and proof-reading skills
- Excellent judgment and ability to maintain the highest standards for confidentiality
- Demonstrated flexibility and professional maturity to readily understand priorities and anticipate needs
- Demonstrated ability to think both creatively and critically
- Attention to detail and ability to manage conflicting priorities and deliver on the most critical assignments on time and within budget
- Excellent PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint and Microsoft Teams, and video editing a plus)
- 1-3 years of relevant experience, experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and or/ life sciences industry a plus
- Open to working in a fast-paced, team-oriented and FUN environment
This position is hybrid and requires some onsite work at Sarepta facilities, headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., with other sites in Burlington and Andover, Mass., and Columbus, Ohio. Travel to Sarepta facilities up to 20 percent.
This position is hybrid, you will be expected to work on site at one of Sarepta’s facilities in the United States and/or attend Company-sponsored in-person events from time to time.
The targeted salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta’s compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.
