Business Title Marketing and Digital Communications CoordinatorAdditional Job Details Reporting to the Associate Director of the Ed Portal, the Marketing and Digital Communications Coordinator is responsible for maintaining online web, email newsletter, and social media content for the Harvard Ed Portal properties and support as needed for Harvard's Public Affairs sites. These sites could include content for community.harvard.edu, edportal.harvard.edu, associated sites, and marketing materials and collateral. The Marketing and Digital Communications Coordinator will support the work of the Assistant Director of Communications and Outreach for Public Affairs and serve as a member of HPAC's content strategy team. The Public Affairs office is an office of external relations covering community relations, government relations, and community programming.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Propose, develop and execute marketing for Ed Portal programs.
- Participate in Ed Portal Team Meetings.
- Review and provide content for the Harvard Ed Portal website and associated social media including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X/Twitter accounts.
- Ensure optimal use of website Content Management System(s).
- Support the development of an editorial calendar and overall content strategy for the web and social media account.
- Assist in quickly posting and creating online content and ability to adapt easily to change.
- Write and/or edit copy for event materials, programs, reports and for additional digital and traditional marketing materials.
- Distribute flyers and other physical print materials to partners and locations where the public gathers in order to promote the availability of Ed Portal programing and events.
- Monitor and report regularly on website and social media analytics and tracking to ensure continuous improvement with an eye to expand audiences.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3 + years of relevant experience preferred
- Experience with social media management tools, and analytics tools including Google Analytics
- Computer software knowledge and proficiency is ideal, including Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, work independently and in collaboration with team members
- Creative, innovative thinker, action-oriented, versatile, ability to adapt in dynamic environment, resourceful and honest, sense of humor
- In person 3x/week and as needed for events.

Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with web content management systems, social media management tools, and analytics tools including Google Analytics, WordPress, Open Scholar, Drupal and other languages
- Computer software & hardware knowledge and proficiency is ideal, including XHTML, CSS, web standards including accessibility and usability
Working under the direction of a Harvard manager, assist with and coordinate digital marketing and advertising campaigns. Work with Harvard managers to identify marketing goals, audiences and messaging. Research and recommend available markets and channels. Assist with the development of digital marketing plans and related deliverables. Produce digital marketing copy and content as needed. Coordinate production of non digital aspects of marketing campaigns. Review deliverables from ad agencies contracted by Harvard, third party designers or other creatives for acceptability relative to Harvard's requirements, expectations and brand standards. Solid knowledge and on the job experience with paid and owned social media, podcast sponsorship, digital display, and email (eblasts and newsletters) advertising. Solid knowledge and on the job experience with paid search, search engine optimization and web analytics.
May use web analytics to prepare regular reporting and analysis (trends, key metrics, results) for digital campaigns. May serve as subject matter expert on digital advertising efforts, digital marketing product capabilities and digital media trends.
Will liaise with and represent Harvard's interests, needs and requirements with publishers, advertising agencies, suppliers and creative resources to ensure successful project execution. Will conduct periodic audits of invoices, budgets, and media plans to optimize Harvard's media investment.
Required technical skills: Intermediate or better proficiency in typical Microsoft Office products. Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and Photoshop as well as web analytics. Additional skills with products like Salesforce CRM may be helpful.
