Monona Grove School District has an opening for a 1.0 FTE Administrative Assistant I at Winnequah School. This is a 10-month position. Position to begin approximately September 9, 2024.
Overview
The Monona Grove School District is seeking a qualified Administrative Assistant I at Winnequah School. This position is responsible for administrative support for the principal and building, serving grades 4K -5.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the principal and school.
- Greet visitors upon arrival and direct to appropriate locations in the building.
- Prioritize work and develop and implement office systems.
- Manage and complete tasks related to student attendance, including, but not limited to, Infinite Campus input, follow-up phone calls, checking in all tardy students, and monitoring and sending attendance letters.
- Screen and refer calls, take telephone messages, make appointments and provide a wide variety of information in response to inquiries.
- Ensure appropriate handling of confidential information flowing into and out of the office, managing sensitive issues and communications responsibly.
- Work with staff on ordering materials including completing purchase orders, finding quotes, selecting items, and checking in packages.
- Attend meetings and training sessions related to District programs and initiatives.
- Help with office duties such as mail distribution, bulletin boards, special events, and communication home regarding enrollment and the next school year.
- Gather information and publish parent newsletter on a monthly basis.
- Contribute photos and captions to building website and District social media outlets.
- Provide back-up support in the health room, distributing medications as needed and providing for care of health needs.
- Manage building activity accounts.
- Create, update and distribute student/parent handbook and crisis binders.
- Participate in First Aid/CPR trainings.
- Attend work regularly.
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Training:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working in a school setting preferred.
- First Aid/CPR training or willingness to attend training.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Must be motivated, flexible, personable, and enthusiastic.
- Must be organized and able to work with nominal direct supervision.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be well organized and demonstrate initiative.
- Must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain exemplary relationships by using appropriate interpersonal skills.

- Must be able to maintain self-control under stressful situations without exhibiting negative behaviors.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, and interact with others to accomplish tasks without arousing hostility
- Must have knowledge of good grammar, spelling, punctuation and basic math abilities.
- Must be patient and understanding in interacting with students, parents and staff.
