The Sports Courts Manager reports directly to the General Manager and has responsibility for all day-to-day operations of the tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball court, and indoor volleyball. The Director of Sports will lead and manage their department to ensure a superb member experience.
Continuing education and staying at the forefront of research and technology are necessary for success for his/herself and that of the staff. In addition, the Director of Sports will provide innovative and relevant leadership in perpetuating and fostering an educational culture of developing and producing future leaders in the department. The Director of Sports must have a natural style of “sincere engagement” with members and staff with a genuine love of Social Wellness.
Key Initiatives And Responsibilities
- Oversee all operations of the Sports Department.
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate athletic programs and activities (including adult and youth athletic camps, clinics, and lessons).
- Tennis courts maintenance for clay surface courts.
- Familiar with indoor and outdoor tennis courts.
- Familiar with indoor and outdoor pickleball courts.
- Establish tennis and pickleball programs (indoor & outdoor).
- Provide exceptional customer service to members and
- Ensures that all staff, including him/herself are visible and engaged with members and guests in a warm and friendly
- Oversees facilities and equipment to ensure safety, cleanliness, and good working
- Responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluations, and supervision of personnel in the Sports Department.
- Establish and track goals for all staff. Ensure your staff has a clear pathway for growth.
- Understand the needs of the membership and program with insight to ensure full amenity
- Provide reports to track activity of lessons, camps, clinics, and programs.
- Manage a budget and expenses for Sports Department.
- Coordinate with Marketing Department member communications including department sections of Club website and newsletter.
- Familiar with Salix program or willing to learn Salix program to manage court reservations.
- Attends and contributes to weekly management staff meetings; conducts regular meetings with department
- Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, and retail
Candidate Qualifications
- Tennis USPTA Certification.
- Pickleball PPR Certification.
- Five years of professional and recreational experience.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, strong interpersonal skills, technologically savvy, and computer
- Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality and
- A resume indicating progressively more responsible positions and demonstrating experience in delivering both group and individual instructional programs to players of various age groups and skill
Educational And Certification Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive growth and experience in (preferably) a private member owned country club with multi-dimensional operations, or a part of a high-level operation outside of the private club industry in a similar hospitality
- Tennis USPTA Certification.
- Pickleball PPR Certification.
- Current AED, CPR, and First Aid certifications are
