EWG is seeking a talented and creative Digital Marketing Copywriter to join our Marketing and Communications team. This role is all about writing clear, compelling, action-driving copy across our key digital channels – including email, social media and web pages. You’ll help turn EWG’s important research into engaging content that grows our audience, inspires action and drives donations.
EWG’s digital platforms reach nearly 30 million website visitors annually and power a mission-driven community committed to protecting health and the environment. What you’ll do:
- Write persuasive, on-brand content for email marketing campaigns, including fundraising, advocacy and engagement messages
- Collaborate with the social media team to create scroll-stopping, shareable posts across platforms
- Optimize social media copy by tailoring tone, message and style to different platforms and audience segments
- Collaborate with the email and social teams to brainstorm creative content ideas that align with platform trends and brand goals
- Develop conversion-focused web copy for landing pages, calls to action and other key marketing pages
- Conduct thorough research on health trends, environmental issues, news and policy updates to inform content creation
- Stay up to date on digital and cultural trends, infusing timely and relevant ideas into copy that resonates across email, social media and web
- Ensure consistency of tone, voice and brand across all copy
What you’ll bring:
- 2-5 years of writing experience for digital channels, especially social media and email
- Ability to write for various audiences and media, including email, website and social media
- Proven ability to write clear, concise, and compelling short-form copy tailored to a variety of digital platforms – including different social media platforms, email and web
- Detail-oriented editing and proofreading skills
- A creative mindset with a strong understanding of digital engagement best practices
- A natural feel for internet humor, meme culture, and what’s culturally relevant online
- Comfort working quickly and independently in a fast-paced environment
- Bonus: Familiarity with SEO, digital fundraising and/or nonprofit advocacy
Preferred qualifications:
Experience In a Nonprofit Or Newsroom Environment Preferred.
Working knowledge of SEO best practices and metrics preferred.
Location: Washington, D.C., office.
Benefits: Annual salary range of $50,000 - $70,000. Salary is commensurate with experience. EWG offers fully paid, excellent health care, paid parental leave and a tax-deferred 403(b) plan, including matched contributions. It’s a casual, growing office with more than 40 engaging co-workers.
