As Our Senior Scientist (Pastures), You Will
- Design, lead and implement native and improved pasture research projects related to extensive livestock production systems in Queensland, including development of funding applications.
- Lead, identify and develop approaches to grazing system analysis, calibration and simulation modelling and decision support for profitable and sustainable management of grazing lands.
- Organise and participate in field work related to grazing land management research, development and extension on commercial livestock properties and departmental research facilities and undertake extended periods of field work as required.
- Lead the publication of high-quality pasture research project reports, peer reviewed scientific journal articles, media releases, newsletter articles, technical notes and other extension materials arising from project outputs.
- Communicate project objectives and outcomes, verbally, written and electronically to producers, industry and other interested stakeholders using innovative extension approaches.
- Work effectively and collaboratively within a team of scientists, technical and extension staff from within the department and with other research organisations, such as universities and the CSIRO.
- Work independently when required and supervise support staff and project budgets.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships, networks and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including government, community and industry leaders to support research outcomes.

Licences and registrations
- A current “C Class” drivers license
Mandatory Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Agricultural Science, Applied Science or Science in a field relevant to the position from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent academic qualifications.
- For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
