Job Summary
Plans, coordinates, and facilitates activities that improve and maintain consistent operational effectiveness and consistency of quality standards within the department. Directs activities that foster a supportive and engaging workplace through training programs and teambuilding initiatives. Develops and implements employee engagement and retention strategies and initiatives within the department that foster professional development for staff and support KSU's Strategic Plan. Advises and partners with department leadership and campus partner departments to identify and implement programs that enhance employee satisfaction and support positive campus experiences for students.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for working with department leadership in identifying standard operating procedures and policies and ensures these are properly documented, updated, and disseminated as necessary
- Collaborates with department leadership, Human Resources, and Legal Affairs to update the Dining Employee Handbook annually or as needed and ensures that updates are communicated, and employee acknowledgement is documented for department recordkeeping
- Directs all activities of new employee onboarding within the department; coordinates with KSU Human Resources to ensure collaboration and complementary programming and activity for new hires complies with KSU and USG policies
- Monitors and supports leadership to ensure performance management documentation is completed timely and aligns with established policies and procedures
- Coordinates with HR to identify and address inconsistencies with documentation and ensures deadlines for submission are consistently met
- Establishes and monitors a survey schedule for all new hires at ninety (90) days post hire, tracks, and reports findings to leadership
- Implements and monitors a tracking system for all new hire training, staff and manager refresh training programs, and ServSafe training
- Manages implementation and ongoing assessment of programs and initiatives aimed at improving staff success and retention
- Tracks employee retention metrics, turnover data, reviews exit interviews, and reports trends to department leadership
- Develops, manages, and conducts ongoing training sessions with department leadership and staff; provides recommendations for group management training and individual leadership coaching as required
- Develops and manages a team development and training program for leaders to create a department wide culture that is focused on engagement and development
- Organizes, facilitates, and conducts training sessions for new and existing staff members on operational standards in the workplace, customer service skills, etc.
- Develops and manages a department mentorship program or process to engage and motivate staff
- Prepares communications and coordinates the dissemination of information regarding career and educational opportunities, campus programs, campus trainings and advance notifications of any University updates
- Prepares and distributes ongoing monthly and quarterly content for Dining department emails and newsletter content for Campus Services, Business Services and coordinates updates for the Office of Administration and Finance as necessary
- Monitors department's monthly quality and assurance audits, facilitates monthly safety committee meetings to maintain continuous messaging and communication on health and safety standards
- Collaborates with the quality assurance team on effective plans of action for overall unit and department health and safety improvements
- Works with Human Resources to support organizational effectiveness, succession planning, university and USG policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Associate's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license.
Required Experience
Four (4) years of related work experience at manager level or higher in a food service establishment.
