American Friends of the Louvre (AFL) is dedicated to supporting the Musée du Louvre and advancing French culture in the United States through a dynamic membership program and philanthropic support. To date, more than $60 million has been raised in support of the museum.

AFL is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Development and Communications Associate who will support its fundraising and outreach efforts and report to the Director of Development. The selected candidate will join a small but growing team with staff based in New York and Paris. This role will assist with donor engagement, event coordination, digital communications, and general administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is an organized and proactive individual with strong writing skills, knowledge of social media, a passion for art and French culture, and a general understanding of philanthropy. Candidates must also be available to work occasional evening events (approximately once per month).

Key Responsibilities (in order of priority):

Development Operations

· Oversee membership operations including preparing and sending renewal letters, processing mail and donations, keying donations into the database, and sending acknowledgments and membership cards

· Help track grant agreements, contracts, and pledges and facilitate their progression

· Support the creation of proposals and solicitation materials

· Track various data points in the database

· Maintain and update donor records in the database

· Manage member and donor lists in the database

· Prepare and execute mail merges for mass communications

· Oversee the annual tous mécènes crowdfunding campaign

· Conduct prospect research

· Other tasks as assigned

Communications & Marketing

· Coordinate content creation for AFL’s social media platforms

· Think creatively about how to grow AFL’s following and presence on social media

· Assist in developing digital and print assets

· Draft external communications including the quarterly newsletter

· Support website updates and monitor analytics to enhance search engine optimization

· Other tasks as assigned


Event Coordination

· Support the planning and execution of the annual gala, particularly the auction

· Assist in planning and executing monthly donor events

· Track event RSVPs and attendee information

· Support post-event follow-up

· Other tasks as assigned

Requirements

· Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills

· Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines

· Strong communication and social skills

· Proficiency in social media management and digital marketing

· Confidence in dealing with board members, high-level donors, and professional peers

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and G Suite

· Experience with donor databases

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and practice discretion

· Interest in the arts, museums, and cultural philanthropy preferred

· Understanding of French culture and basic comprehension of French preferred


Work Experience

A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in nonprofit development


Compensation

The salary range is $60,000-$65,000
