Program Analyst Salary Range: $92,960 - $123,943

Senior Program Analyst Salary Range: $102,263 - $136,352

FLSA: Exempt / Union Represented


This position allows for up to four days or remote work.


Position placement in the Program Analyst or Senior Program Analyst role will depend on the applicant's qualifications and years of relevant experience.


To be considered applicants must include a writing sample and a sample of visual content they have produced or edited; finalists will be required to take an editing test.


About the position

You are a skilled editor with a passion for public service. You have demonstrated experience editing a variety of content—including formal reports, website content, news releases, newsletters, emails, presentations, infographics and other data visualizations (charts/tables), as well as social media content. You have experience developing style guides, checklists, and templates to guide staff on improving their content. You have an eye for graphic design and visual communications –as well as administrative skills--and a discerning eye for detail that you apply in everything you do. The right candidate is also a creative thinker and innovator interested in testing and wisely applying new tools to streamline content quality-checking.

Your responsibilities will include hands-on editing of a variety of content, managing editing and graphic vendors, and serving as an internal content quality maven by developing standards, guides, job aids, and training. You will also help the State Bar meet language access goals by serving as the central point of contact for vendor-produced translations.


Editor


  • Edit a variety of content hands on, and source, select, and work with external copyeditors as needed to maintain a consistent voice and style across all communications.
  • Maintain and update style guide, branding guidelines, and templates for such elements as letterhead and presentations (PowerPoint and Visme), working with external graphic designers as needed.
  • Create quality standards for State Bar forms and quality check forms as needed, develop internal job aids and training as needed for distributed forms development.
  • Verify accuracy and reliability of the information and check for potential bias or misleading information within the content.
  • Serve as editor of a quarterly staff e-newsletter.
  • Test evolving AI tools for style guide conformance.


Project management and administrative duties


  • Project manage graphic design projects, such as logo redesigns. Work with vendors and internal clients, coordinate reviews/approvals, and maintain image libraries.
  • Administer translations centrally: respond to internal requests, providing internal guidance (languages chosen, procedures), trafficking translation requests to external vendor, paying invoices, and tracking budget.
  • Other duties as assigned


Preferred Experience / Knowledge


  • Strong, flexible, fast editor who can help writers create clear, concise, correct, and public-friendly written content in a variety of forms
  • Capable visual content editor with experience editing infographics, charts, and graphs, and overseeing graphic designers
  • Strong and versatile technical/digital skills including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, PowerPoint, Visme, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and internal clients/colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters
  • Strong remote collaboration and remote working skills; excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Familiarity with the State Bar of California’s mission and role in the judicial branch
  • Experience with translations and language access issues, particularly in a government setting
  • Communications experience in government or the legal community
