The Rockefeller Foundation is seeking a Summer Associate for our Health Initiative team.

We value our Summer Associates and want to invest in and mentor future leaders who will grow personally and professionally and create an impact in the philanthropic sector. As a Summer Associate at The Rockefeller Foundation, you will have the chance to contribute to our initiatives through engaging, meaningful work assignments.

Program Details

  • This position is open to graduate students only.
  • A cover letter is required.
  • The 2025 summer program will run 11 weeks from June – August 2025.
  • This position will be based in New York City with a hybrid schedule.

Pay Range : $30 - $35 hourly rate. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience. This is a non-exempt position and thus eligible for overtime pay.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Elevate engagement and increase awareness of the RF Health team’s climate-health initiative, both within and outside of the Foundation, through the development of case studies, knowledge products, and digital communications.
  • Coordinate with the digital communications team to update the Health webpage and social media channels with meaningful and up-to-date content that resonates with target audiences.
  • Research events, programs, issue areas, leaders, and more to inform speeches, op-eds, social media posts, etc.
  • Review drafts for factual accuracy and consistent messaging.
  • Research and draft briefing documents and memos for meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Prepare materials, conduct outreach, coordinate logistics, and capture onsite content for convenings and events with key partners.
  • Assist with the management of digital assets, including but not limited to photos and videos captured by the Foundation staff, its contractors, and grantees.

Education, Experience, And Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in one of the following areas: business, public policy, public health, environmental studies, government, international development, communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • Strong analytic, writing, and communication skills and ability to research new, potentially unfamiliar topics with limited guidance.
  • Experience with PR Newswire, Salesforce, WordPress, Flourish, and Tableau is preferred. Familiarity with HTML and knowledge of major social media channels and current standard processes is a plus.
  • Experience or interest in scientific communications, creative writing, and copy editing.
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities; able to synthesize large volumes of research and data to guide strategy.
  • Collaborative, innovative, eager to learn, and interested in how foundations create and implement strategies alongside partners.
  • Experience delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous work experience in the nonprofit sector, consulting, research, or business-related field preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Must be a collaborative and proactive self-starter.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
