Overview: The Communications Manager is responsible for the creation, management, and optimization of multimedia content across multiple media platforms. Working closely with the Communications Advisor, this role supports the implementation of strategic communications initiatives and ensures the delivery of high-impact content that aligns with the organization’s messaging and goals. The ideal candidate will have strong creative skills, proficiency with digital tools, and an understanding of international politics and conflict mediation.

Responsibilities:
- Content Creation & Design:
- Produce multimedia content (graphics, videos, animations, and written copy) for social media, email newsletters, and the organization’s Squarespace website.
- Use Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign) and Canva to create visually appealing and brand-consistent content.
- Write compelling and audience-specific copy for posts, captions, and calls-to-action (CTAs) across platforms.
- Content Management & Scheduling:
- Plan, schedule, and publish content using tools like Hootsuite to ensure a consistent posting cadence on social media.
- Maintain a content calendar in collaboration with the Communications Advisor, ensuring deadlines and campaign timelines are met.
- Coordinate social media content with other organizational campaigns, announcements, and strategic initiatives.
- Advertising & Campaign Management:
- Develop, launch, and manage paid social media ad campaigns on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- Monitor campaign performance and optimize ads for key performance indicators (KPIs) such as engagement, conversions, and click-through rates.
- Analytics & Reporting:
- Track and analyze social media performance metrics using platform analytics tools.
- Provide regular reports and actionable insights to the Communications Advisor on content performance, audience engagement, and campaign results.
- Collaborative Strategic Execution:
- Work closely with the Communications Advisor to bring strategic direction to life through creative content.
- Support strategic messaging objectives for international audiences on issues related to conflict mediation and global affairs.
- Participate in team brainstorming and content strategy discussions to support organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) and Canva.
- Proficiency in social media scheduling tools like Hootsuite.
- Experience with Mailchimp for email marketing and newsletter design.
- Proficiency with Squarespace website updates, content management, and design.
- Demonstrated experience managing paid ad campaigns on social media platforms.
- Knowledge of social media analytics and experience using platform-specific reporting tools.
- Superior copywriting skills for multiple audiences and platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of national/international politics and conflict mediation to create content aligned with organizational messaging.
- Experience working within a mission-driven or nonprofit environment.
- Familiarity with culturally sensitive communication practices.
- Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) principles for social media and website content.
