Freelance Digital Advertising Sales Representative

Scope of Work: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced freelance digital sales representative to help maximize our advertising revenue and expand our reach. Role responsibilities include identifying prospects, conducting outreach, selling, and executing the administration of the advertising products. This Freelance Digital Sales Representative will work directly with the Director of Membership Services & Publications. Compensation includes commission, allowing the person in this role to have control over earning potential. This is projected to be on a contract basis for six months with potential for direct hire with benefits, based on exemplary performance.
Deliverables include
- Own and manage key relationships with existing and future digital advertisers. Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships to foster repeat business and customer loyalty.
- Develop a sales pipeline for mission-aligned organizations and corporations and by analyzing existing ad clients and membership base.
- Generate leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking, referrals, social media, targeted emails, and other relevant means.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our digital product offerings in The Writer’s Chronicle, the AWP website, the AWP newsletter, and the annual conference program and mobile app to effectively communicate their value and benefits to prospective customers.
- Leverage audience analytics to prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations tailored to the specific needs and interests of potential clients.
- Manage the sales cycle from initial contact to contract negotiation and execution.
- Collaborate with AWP team members, including using Asana project management software, to ensure effective sales strategies and campaigns.
- Execute all other administrative details in relation to advertisers in SpaceMaster by ASI, including drawing up proposals, confirming availability, creating insertion orders and invoicing; follow up on nonpayment when necessary.
- Provide timely and accurate sales reports to management, tracking progress and performance against targets, pipeline status, and revenue projections.
- Provide feedback and analysis on AWP products compared to current marketplace ad pricing, products, and delivery methods.
Requirements:
- 3 – 5 years of experience and a proven track record of success in digital sales, with a strong portfolio of achieved targets and revenue generation.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related fields is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
- In-depth knowledge of digital advertising. Specific knowledge within such mediums as digital magazines, e-newsletters, websites, and event programs is a plus.
- Existing relationships with advertisers and agencies, particularly those focused on mission-driven organizations, literary and other arts organizations, nonprofits or media companies is a plus.
· Experience selling in the literary vertical is a plus
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and remotely, managing time effectively to achieve sales goals.
- Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and result-driven with a relentless pursuit of excellence.
- Proficiency in using digital sales tools, CRM software, and other relevant technologies. Experience in iMIS nonprofit CRM software and Google Analytics 4 is a plus.
- Familiarity with the latest digital marketing and sales trends, strategies, and techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and follow-through skills, and adaptability to handle various client needs and challenges.
- High ethical standards and professionalism in dealing with clients and colleagues.
