Base pay range

$45,000.00/yr - $50,000.00/yr

About the Position

Global Action is seeking a strategic Content Specialist to amplify our mission through impactful writing for a wide range of audiences. This role will involve several types of writing including social media posts, thought leadership pieces, opinion pieces, stakeholder news updates, and others. Reporting to the Director, Media, this role will work closely with the Vice President, Strategic Engagement and the Digital and Social Media Senior Specialist to ensure there is ample content to engage all our overlapping audiences, including people who smoke and those who care about them, health care professionals, scientists, people passionate about public health, grantees, third-party validators, influencers, connectors, and donors.


Key Responsibilities

• Create impactful, mission-driven storytelling for a wide variety of audiences.

• Work with the Digital and Social Media Senior Specialist to produce regular social media posts, including captions for graphics or video interviews with the GA team.

• Work with the Director, Media to manage an ongoing production calendar.

• Produce roughly 500 to 1,200 words of copy per week, depending on need.

• Lead copy production for the GA Annual Report with input from other members of the GA team. • Lead copy production for the monthly Board of Directors newsletter.

• Assist in providing copy and preparing monthly Community newsletter and email content.

• Work to incorporate edits and feedback in a timely manner.


Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.

• Minimum four years’ experience in copy writing and social media development.

• Strong storytelling skills with the ability to craft content that resonates with key audiences.

• Proficiency with AP Style and willingness to learn Global Action specific style.

• Familiarity with writing for both technical and lay audiences.

• Familiarity with accessibility best practices for audience engagement.

• Familiarity with public health.

• Familiarity with basic challenges in tobacco control a plus.

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to juggle conflicting priorities and meet deadlines. • Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative style, and a strong sense of teamwork. • Ability to work collaboratively and transparently. • Strong emotional and situational intelligence.


Additional Information

Candidates within the NYC metro area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) are preferred but not required.
