AOSSM is seeking a Social Media and Marketing Coordinator to execute the organization’s social media strategy by preparing and carrying out a social media plan (posts, reposts, following related organizations/individuals). Additional responsibilities of the position include coordination and copywriting for assigned marketing projects, including the quarterly member magazine, website, and other areas of the organization. The position requires exceptional time management, flexibility, writing, proofreading and editing skills for digital and social media and for mainstream marketing projects.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute a results-driven social media strategy for AOSSM Society and publishing brands.
- Serve as a marketing point person, collaborating with other Society departments on the to create and oversee a social media calendar.
- Develop and post engaging written and visual content across multiple platforms and accounts.
- Maintain unified brand voice across different social media channels.
- Build and manage paid social media advertising campaigns in support of Society initiatives.
- Communicate with volunteer leadership/committees to strategically improve engagement metrics across social media platforms.
- Monitor industry social media channels for trends and opportunities.
- Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments (community management).
- Review analytics and create reports on key metrics.
- Take active role in budget management of social media marketing.
- Utilizes graphic design experience with platforms such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite and video editing software.
- Support project timelines, content creation and editing for quarterly member e-magazine.
- Copywriting, editing and/or graphic design (primarily in Canva) for digital marketing tactics such as website, email and e-newsletter.
- Other projects as assigned.
Candidate Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field.
- 3-5 years practical experience in social media marketing.
- Exceptional writing skills coupled with attention to detail in grammar, vocabulary, editing and proofreading.
- Proficiency with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite).
- Proficiency with photo and video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe).
- Familiarity with paid social media advertising campaigns.
- Experience with Microsoft Office resources (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work as a team as well as independently.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Detail-oriented approach with ability to be flexible and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Association management experience a plus.
This position is a hybrid role based out of the AOSSM office in Rosemont, IL including two days per week in office. AOSSM offers a competitive salary and an exceptional comprehensive benefits package. Estimated travel currently includes overnight/out-of-state travel up to 10 percent annually, including up to five days to the AOSSM Annual Meeting in July.
