Princeton University Press seeks a skilled multi-tasker who is highly organized and has an interest in books, academia, publishing, and journalism. The Promotions Assistant is responsible for a variety of tasks associated with securing publicity for PUP books. The promotions team at PUP oversees media relations, author relations, and author events and works closely and collaboratively with PUP’s digital marketing, institutional marketing, sales, and editorial teams, as well as with international distribution partners. The Promotions Assistant reports to the US-based Promotions Director and works closely with publicists in the UK and US offices.

Primary Responsibilities
- Manages the global publicity inbox, responding to media and journal queries in a timely fashion and logging and fulfilling material requests. Monitors Edelweiss for publicity requests.
- Provides administrative, data entry, and mailing support for the promotions team, including logging reviews and quotes in Salesforce and PUP’s title management systems and submitting publicity work orders to the US warehouse.
- Oversees the production of print and digital publicity materials for publicity and sales teams, staying in close communication with Publicity Director and Intellectual Property team on file protections and gathering cost comparisons from UK galley producers
- Generates and circulates a weekly publicity newsletter for staff and domestic and international sales reps.
- Creates flyers for author events (generating sales discount codes for UK events) and other publicity materials as needed. Provides support as needed on author event planning.
- Submits publicity materials to US pre-publication and audiobook outlets and monitors for subsequent review coverage.
- In close coordination with the Publicity Director, oversees paperback publicity for select titles and oversees seasonal highlights emails to major media.
- Maintains and updates the publicity database to ensure contacts are current and that new contacts are added in a timely manner.
- Provides seasonal keyword search updates for database monitoring and generates seasonal lists for Salesforce.
- Oversees US media subscription renewals, tracking costs to ensure budget is maintained.
- Participates in publicity, marketing, and sales meetings, including seasonal launches and sales conferences, providing note taking support and presenting select titles when requested.
Position Requirements
- Demonstrable time-management and organizational skills, and the ability to manage detail-oriented projects with overlapping deadlines.
- Clear communication, including comfort speaking in team meetings and interacting with media and ability to draft professional email communications to journalists and authors alike.
- Confidence with independent work, and as part of a larger collective with common goals.
- Computer proficiency, including databases, Microsoft Office/ Familiarity with common publicity databases (Cision, MuckRack, etc.), Salesforce, and InDesign is a plus, but training will be provided as needed.
- Must be willing to work occasional evenings or weekends for author events and industry events, with comp time offered for any work performed outside of business hours.
- Must be a reader with interest in books, academia, and global publishing who is excited to work daily with teams in the United States and United Kingdom.
- Preference for candidates able to work modified US business hours (7:30-4) to support communications with UK team members and international media.
- A hybrid schedule with some onsite availability is preferred but not required.

Base Salary: $45,000/year plus extensive benefits package. Starting salary may be negotiable based on relevant skills and prior experience.
