Job Purpose
Create a safe learning environment for the children in our Infant and Toddler classes that fosters inquiry, exploration, learning & respect.
Collaborate with teachers to support famlies and children in our infant and toddler classes.
SCOPE OF INFLUENCE
- Participate in classroom through daily activities
- Support Families and Children in the program.
- Partner with the teaching staff and administration in the overall philosophy of 14Y Early Childhood Programs.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
Planning, Preparation + Curriculum Development
- Support curriculum with Lead teacher, based on class needs.
- Share in documenting
- Participate in meetings with teaching team
Classroom Environment
- Help create a classroom environment with inquiry, exploration, learning and respect in mind
- Create a warm and inclusive environment where children and families feel welcome
- Participate in organizing physical space and selection of materials in a way that is inviting and accessible for children
- Share in support documenting the classroom actives for newsletter.
Interactions with Children
- Speaking and listening to children with respect and mindfulness
- Assist in classroom procedures including transitions, routines and small groups
- Engage students in exploration and learning; curious about the children’s perspective
- Translating and coaching children through conflicts with problem solving
Relationships with Families
- Building respectful and reciprocal relationships with families (Parents and Caregivers)
Professional Responsibilities
- Share in documenting children’s work, development and progress
- Collaborative and professional relationship with colleagues
- Reflective, asks questions, willing to take risks and make mistakes
- Participating in the professional community, including relationships to colleagues, service to the school and organization, and involvement in a culture of professional inquiry
- Showing professionalism including integrity, ethical conduct and decision making
Job Requirements
Required Knowledge
Teaching Experience With Teaching In Early Childhood Setting Preferred
Experience with children under the age of three
Strong oral and written communication with parents, children and co-workers
