Background: The Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy is a statewide, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing policies that strengthen New York families and improve child well-being, so all New York children have a fair opportunity to thrive.

Position Summary: The Communications Associate will be a key member of Schuyler Center’s team and will support communications work across the organization, including donor communications. Responsibilities will include website content and maintenance, social media projects, fundraising support, analyzing and presenting communications data, and assisting with story-telling activities.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with the expectation of occasional nights/weekends. Schuyler Center presently has a hybrid environment of both in-office (Albany, New York) and remote. This position requires a minimum of two days a week in the Albany office, with additional days when the work requires. The successful candidate will be a motivated, well-organized and friendly team player.

Reports to: Director of Communications

Major Responsibilities

Maintain websites for the Schuyler Center and associated campaigns, including keeping material current and uploading resources.
Support both advocacy and fundraising communication projects.
Create social media content, including video, developed in conjunction with Schuyler publications and campaigns.
Gather communication metrics and data related to Schuyler Center websites and social media, and create presentations on the results for the Board and other audiences.
Draft Schuyler digital newsletter.
Draft fundraising communications to current and potential donors and supporters, including solicitation letters and other fundraising materials.
Maintain current lists of contacts, reporters, and media outlets.
Assist with editing and revising publications, one-pagers, etc.
Repurpose reports and publications into one-pagers, social media posts/graphics, explainers, etc.
Support campaign and coalition work as needed (press releases, statements, social media).
Assist in developing brand guidelines and ensuring Schuyler Center branding remains current and consistent across all platforms.
Assist with story-gathering related to specific campaigns and coalitions.

Skills/Background

At least 2 years of professional experience working in the digital communications field.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational skills with demonstrated success developing and advancing programs and campaigns.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
Presentation and public communication skills and the ability to communicate data findings and issues to external audiences.
Knowledge of digital media strategies.
Experience managing website content.
Proven proficiency in using various social media platforms.
Proven skills in marketing communications, donor relations, video creation and editing, social media marketing, and/or public relations is a plus.
Strong editing and research skills.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and deliver proactively and professionally under pressure.
