Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Communications Intern to join our team. As an intern, you will work closely with the Director of Development & External Affairs, contributing to various projects that enhance our organization's public presence and communications. This role is ideal for someone passionate about social media, design, writing, and digital communication, who is eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.

Who We Are:

Philadelphia Academies, Inc. (PAI), was established in 1969 to address the dropout crisis plaguing Philadelphia schools through a Career Academy Model which has since been replicated nationally by over 8,000 schools. Today our programming focuses on Workforce Development Initiatives, Teacher & School Leader Support, and real-world Career Experiences. These efforts are designed to focus on generating post-secondary opportunities better suited to achieving our mission of improving outcomes for Philadelphia’s young people.

Key Responsibilities:1. Social Media Management:

Assist in the creation, scheduling, and posting of content across various social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook).
Monitor social media accounts, respond to inquiries, and engage with followers to foster community interaction.
Analyze social media metrics and assist in preparing reports on the performance and impact of social media campaigns.

2. Graphic Design:

Design visually compelling graphics for social media posts, newsletters, presentations, and other communication materials.
Support the creation of branding materials, including logos, banners, presentations and promotional content.
Collaborate with the team to ensure all designs align with the organization's brand identity and messaging.

3. Basic Website Updates:

Assist in updating website content, including news articles, event postings, and other relevant information.
Perform routine website maintenance tasks, such as updating links, images, and ensuring all content is current.

4. Newsletter Writing:

Write and edit content for the organization’s newsletters, ensuring clear, engaging, and error-free communication.
Collaborate with various departments to gather relevant information and stories for inclusion in the newsletters.
Assist in the layout and distribution of newsletters to the appropriate audiences.

Qualifications:

Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or a related field.
Skills:
Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends.
Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
Basic knowledge of website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Experience: Prior experience in social media management, graphic design, or content creation is a plus.
