Established in 1924, our mission is to promote the sustainable use and enjoyment of natural resources through programs, advocacy, and initiatives. Our nationally recognized Green Crew program empowers young people to become environmental stewards through hands-on activities and leadership development. Our Green Summer program provides educational and conservation service opportunities for youth.

Role Description

This is a volunteer role for a Newsletter Editor with the Minnesota Valley Chapter of the IWLA. The Newsletter Editor will be responsible for day-to-day tasks including writing and editing content for newsletters, ensuring accuracy and quality, and collaborating with team members to develop engaging and informative newsletters. This is a hybrid role, based in Minneapolis, MN, with flexibility for some remote work.

Responsibilities

Write and edit content for newsletters, ensuring accuracy and quality.
Collaborate with team members to develop engaging and informative newsletters.
Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications Director, who is a board member.
Work closely with volunteers responsible for different sections of the newsletter.
Expand our storytelling to share the amazing things being done in our community.
Cross-publish our newsletter onto our website and social media platforms.
Use Vertical Response for sending newsletters.

Qualifications

Excellent communication and writing skills.
Experience in writing newsletters and editorials.
Strong proofreading and editing abilities.
Passion for the environment.
Love working with volunteers, especially youth.
Commitment to a diverse and inclusive volunteer organization.
Knowledge or interest in environmental conservation.
Experience with content management systems.
Graphic design skills or familiarity with design software.
Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

Volunteers are required to become a member of the Chapter.
Volunteers working with youth may be required to undergo a background check.
