Serving its audience of nearly 4 million readers each year, The Pop Insider provides fans with news, gift lists, and giveaways of all the hottest merch drops, collabs, and experiences through its print magazines, website, social media suite, and presence at major comic conventions.

Adventure Media & Events also hosts influencer and media events through its Toy Insider brand, connecting hundreds of creators and press with dozens of toy and game companies each year. Its Spring Fling, Sweet Suite, and Holiday of Play events are highly anticipated experiences. Adventure Media & Events also has a presence at major toy, game, and video game trade shows.

AM&E seeks an editorial assistant to join its team, with responsibilities spanning all three publications and events.

This is a full-time, in-office position. Applicants must be able to travel to and from Chelsea, New York City daily. Travel to press events in New York and trade shows and comic cons in the U.S. is also required.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Administrative responsibilities

Office management, including ordering supplies, organization, greeting visitors, shipping and receiving packages, trash removal, etc.
Assisting with trade show and event setup, supplies, and shipments
Assisting upper-level management and senior staff with admin-level tasks as needed, such as executing expense reports, booking travel, etc.

Media Team Assistance

Liaising with advertising partners and securing priority product information and assets; creating, maintaining, and managing the database of info and assets
Writing talking points and product notes for all on-air TV segments for a team of media-trained editors
Coordinating broadcast TV segment details with editors and publicists
Managing full product sample inventory
Setting up toys and games to be camera-ready for media segments and shipping them to remote editors and studios
Delivering products to studios as needed
Assisting with in-studio set-up as needed

Editorial responsibilities

Writing news briefs for all three websites
Writing product listings for all three websites
Contributing Q&As, expert toy reviews, shoppable listicles, and other feature content for all three websites and The Toy Book and The Pop Insider print magazines
Pitching feature ideas for all three publications
Executing sponsored advertorial programs
Utilizing AI tools to maximize editorial output and efficiencies
Basic photo editing in Photoshop
Basic page layout in InDesign

Social media

Execute sponsored social media programs
Assist with in-house content
Share reviews, features, and other content via X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and LinkedIn
Make appearances in video content on TikTok and Instagram as needed

Requirements

BA in English, communications, or journalism
Strong organizational skills
Experience with WordPress or similar CMS
Basic understanding of Photoshop and InDesign
Ability to travel to trade shows, comic cons, and other events in the U.S.
